Refernce/Slide Collection Assistant (Half-Time)
DUTIES: Assist the Public Services Librarian in developing and maintaining the
Library's information resources by preparing drafts of intruction sheets (for
reference tools) and pathfinders/bibliographies, maintaining a supply of
instructional and reference handouts, and assisting librarians with research
for Internet sites (Web page); support library instruction by maintaining
schedules of, and organizing material for, library instruction classes,
assisting/maintaining statistics for instruction classes; supporting reference
activities by performing basic research and reference activities to assist
reference librarians; maintain the library slide collection by taking slides
recommended by faculty, including quasi-catalog slides, maintaining a slide
database, assisting faculty in locating and circulating slides, and weeding
collection of poor and damaged slides.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in art history or
architecture (MLS credits or two years public service in academic library
preferred); familiarity with Internet resources and word processing/desktop
publishing programs; experience with photography preferred. Good
organizational abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
BENEFITS: $10.50/hour. Prorated sick and vacation leave included. Tuition
remission included.
