Clemson University, Branch Head, Gunnin Architectural Library
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to the Dean of Libraries. Responsible for
overall operation of the library, including staff supervision and training,
monitoring budgets, reference services, online searching, bibliographic
instruction and collection development to support the disciplines of
architecture, construction science and management, city and regional
planning, landscape architecture, and visual arts.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS. Two years library
experience. Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;
abilitiy to work successfully within a group environment and to establish
and maintain effective working relationships at all levels. Preferred:
Degree or advanced course work in architecture or related field. Experience
working in an architecture/art branch library. Experience in online
searching, reference services, and bibliographic instruction.
SALARY & BENEFITS: $30,000 minimum; negotiable depending upon
qualifications. Faculty status, 12-month tenure track position, SC,
TIAA-CREF, or other retirement plans, various medical plans, dental plan,
18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 12 paid holidays, and liberal
professional development leave.
LIBRARY: The Clemson University Libraries have a staff of 30 librarians
and 68 support staff. The Libraries are fully networked, linking employees
with library electronic mail and calendar systems, campus network, and the
Internet. The Gunnin Architectural Library has over 28,000 volumes, 200
active serial titles, 87,000 slides, and 540 videotapes. Staff consists of
the branch head, six support staff, plus student assistants. This branch
library serves 640 undergraduate students, 140 graduate students, and 70
faculty members within the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities.
