Greg, I cannot seem to find this URL address. Is it correct? I've simply
copied and pasted it into Netscape eradicating any possible typos on my
part. Jennifer

Also, I think this issue should interest ARLIS, because art librarians in
general soon learn that the "biggest ask" in an art library is access to
images by subject, or any other access point really, which is what fuels
this need for reliable retrieval of images on a LAN. WE spend large chunks
of time here looking for pictures, the most recent examples coming to mind
are:- "the uniforms of Generals in the Third Reich, journalistic photos of
human relationships in Vietnam, plagiarised logos, rainforrest flowers,
comets, current Australian furniture designs, whales at Hervey Bay, the
American Flag, the American Presidents desk, refugees, the Southern Cross,
old paintings with people wearing silver jewellery in the Renaissance,
covers of magazines from the fifties, 1940's cosmetic adds, slides of the
works of the man who painted fruit in human forms many years ago (
Archimboldo!)" ..........da, da, da, da , da and the beat goes on. That's
why we want these LANs, that are reliable, indexed to high standards, etc.
Everyone's already sick of waisting time on the web searching for images,
when they are after something this specific.
