The Art Libraries Society of Michigan's
Fall meeting will be held on September 30,
1996 at the Research Center Reading Room at
Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield
Village, 20900 Oakwood Boulevard in
Dearborn, Michigan.
Housed in the museum's Education
Building, the Research Center
contains both the library and
archives with collections that complement the
curatorial, educational, and research activities
of the museum.
The institution's unusually
comprehensive collection of over one million
three-dimensional objects and in excess of
twenty-five million items of printed and
manuscript materials documents American
history from European settlement to the
present, illustrating the American transition
from a rural, agricultural society to an urban,
industrial one. The major collection areas
include agriculture, industry, transportation,
communication, and domestic life.
The Research Center maintains a public
Reading Room in which reference staff are
available to assist patrons who wish to
conduct their own research. Through the
manual and computerized access tools
available in the Reading Room, patrons can
conduct research in the Museum's artifact
as well as paper and photographic
collections.
