Colleagues,
Our Fine Arts Library has a collection of approximately 10,000 auction catalogs
that we wish to organize separately from the main body of our library
collection. We are considering organizing the auction catalogs by name of
auction house, then by city, then by date of auction.
Our cataloging department has asked me to help them locate the cataloging
records of other libraries that have done this, or something similar. If you
have organized your auction catalogs in this manner (or in some way that is
similar if not identical) and if you report your records to either OCLC or
RLIN, could you please be in touch with me at the E-mail address below? We are
most anxious to view auction catalog records such as these on the OCLC or RLIN
databases to get a better look at the options we are considering.
Please be sure to respond to my E-mail address and not to the list.
Thanks for any help you can offer. Comments about your experiences with this
issue are most welcome.
