Hi, Image Gods and Goddesses,
I am going to a seminar tomorrow:- presented by Dr William Arms. Blurb follows.
" The internet is moving so fast that cataloguing even the major
collections by traditional methods is too slow and too expensive. Automatic
methods are needed, but they mus build on the traditional methods of
indexing and cataloguing. Methods for describing and finding information on
the Internet are beginning to coalesce into a coherent whole. this talk
will survey the shape that is emerging with emphasise on CNRI's work with
Library of Congress"
Any thoughts on this?
Any suggestions? I imagine I might have image records here that could be
useful, so I'll have to look at ways of making them more accessible on a
network.
I'm already accessing ULAN on the Net which seems to give nationality,
birth date or the more vague century, plus RILA references.
Are there any other net sources I'm missing, in this quest for quick
cataloguing research? How about EmbARK users?
Thanks
Jennifer QCA
