Librarian II/Exhibit Coordinator (full-time)

Allen County Public Library
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide reference assistance to patrons
approximately 15-20 hours per week, participates in collection
development of art and other related fine arts areas, and
plans/installs exhibits in the library galleries. Supervises the
department during scheduled evening or weekend hours when the manager
and assistant manager are absent. Represents the library and the
community in a leadership role for the arts. Demonstrates excellent
interpersonal skills. Participates in the planning, development,
presentation and evaluation of library services to the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS degree and one year of professional
library experience. Undergraduate degree with major in art preferred.
Ability to network with the art community; plan and install gallery
exhibits. Excellent organizational skills are necessary. Strong
interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to providing
information in the context of pro-active library service. Ability to
work cooperatively and positively with a wide variety of patrons and
co-workers. Ability to work a variety of day, evening and weekend
hours. Friendliness, enthusiasm, energy, initiative, resourcefulness,
tact, good judgment and a sense of humor are essential.
COMPENSATION: Range minimum is $26,249 for 1996. Library-paid single
