Looking for information about a famous Russian icon known as the
Virgin of Kazan. David Talbot Rice's book Icons and their History says
that it disappeared from the cathedral of Kazan in St. Petersburg in
1918, when it was supposedly en route to Moscow, and that New York
claims to possess it. Where in New York? Is this the genuine icon?
There has been some discussion of this in the papers, though a
search of the Dialog Papers files was unsuccessful. Any help will
be appreciated.
