Hi,

We just wanted to give you an update on the Advanced Search problem that has been affecting some Artstor Digital Library subscribers. We are still working towards fixing the bug, but unfortunately we won't be able to make the necessary updates until the end of next month.

Sorry, we do realize this is frustrating; we'll keep you posted when we have more news. In the meanwhile, if you need help, please contact our User Services team at [log in to unmask]

All the best,

Giovanni

Hi Kristen,

I'm happy to say that the ability to do an advanced search without entering a keyword will be restored in the next release.

Best,

Thanks for the info Giovanni - one thing I really miss is that years ago in the advanced search one did not need to put a search term into the box to produce results. One could choose, say, a few classifications and a time period and just hit search and retrieve records. Will that ever be possible again? Or maybe it does work at other institutions but not mine???

Hi Beverly,

The problem seems to be limited to only some institutions. We're aiming to fix it in the next release, which is scheduled for October; in the meanwhile, filtering your results (http://artstor.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/narrow-your-results-and-find-what-youre-looking-for/) and using wildcards in your searches can help (http://artstor.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/four-easy-tricks-to-help-you-search-the-artstor-digital-library/).

We realize those are workarounds and that they're not ideal. We hope to have the issue resolved very soon.

All the best,

Giovanni

Yes, I have had problems with several sessions in ARTstor's advanced search this semester. When I submit a search in the advanced search, nothing happens. I have reported it, but it seems to continue.

Hi all - is Artstor working ok for you all? I was teaching a class and we could do some things like registering an account and browsing classifications but on trying the advanced search nothing happens, the search box just stays there and no thumbnails appear.

Thanks, Kristen

Experiencing an outage. They're redirecting their site to an explanatory 'temporary outage' page...

Greetings all—Several of us in the field of architecture librarianship- Kathy Edwards, Barret Havens, Janine Henri, Amy Trendler and me (Barbara Opar) have been working on creating a core list of reference works for use by those in the architecture field, especially in schools. The list is done and here is our first public record of that:

We welcome your thoughts and help getting the word out.

Hello all:

I have also experienced a problem with ARTstor's advanced search. I reported the problem and they responded by noting that their advanced search is indeed broken and they are working to build a fix which will be released with a new site at the end of the month. In the meantime, they recommend using their faceted search as a work around.

Cheers,

Vanessa
