This is really interesting.

Art museums, photographers and other art publishers are currently
really drawn to the iPad as a vehicle for digital publishing. And
they're publishing their books as standalone iPad apps, and into the
iBooks bookstore in two particular formats that are Apple-only (iBooks
Author and fixed layout .epub). As long as this trend continues it
seems like the only viable way for art libraries to collect many of
these things is to purchase an iPad and the individual apps and
e-books to go with it. And then to give patrons access to the device
in the library. Has anyone done this?
