Dear Arlisians and Book Arts Fans,
Interest in the Book Arts SIG is strong- well over 140 emails have hit my inbox this year expressing interest. Wow!
I am not creating a separate email group for us since we are a very low traffic group so please look for book arts related announcements on this ARLIS list and on the blog associated with the SIG:
http://arlisnabookartsig.blogspot.com/
I welcome all comments and participation.
We have a room assignment for the SIG in Toronto:
Sheraton Hall A, 6:30pm Sunday April 1, 2012.
Call for agenda topics is open.
We will have intros, announcements about notable book arts events and fairs from the year or upcoming, discuss the artist book form fields that 23 Sandy Gallery is collecting to facilitate cataloging/discovery/info exchange about their book artists and their work.
See additional information fields:
http://23sandy.com/works/products-page/fever-of-matter
for an example and the ARLIS-L archives: "artist book cataloging fields feedback request" 26 Feb 2012 for the full conversation.
Mapping these to MARC fields would be the next step. I am not a cataloger so assistance from artist book catalogers would be welcome. Our goal is to get an online form pulled together for all to use as needed during acquisition, cataloging, reference, preservation, digitization, etc.
Look forward to seeing you all in Toronto!
Cheers, Teresa, Chair Book Arts SIG
