Greetings all,
I'm preparing my list to forward to the artist, so last call...
Thanks,
Peter
===============
Greeting friends,
If you support any kind of jewellery, craft, or dec arts practice or research program, I've got an offer for you.
Copies of the following for free, including free postage. The artist wants to make copies available to any interested library. A very nice offer.
Hands of the Heroes.
By Kiff Slemmons.
Essay by Mija Riedel, poem by Bruce Whiteman.
Designed by JNL Design, Chicago 2008.
ISBN 978-1-4507-0097-9<http://searchworks.stanford.edu/?op=AND&author=&title=&subject=&description=&pub_info=&number=1450700977&sort=score+desc%2C+pub_date_sort+desc%2C+title_sort+asc&search_field=advanced>.
140 pages, photographs and text about a jewelry project 1994-1999.
5x9 inches, hard cover.
Self-published by the artist.
Ms. Slemmons created 50 (if I counted correctly) badges in the shape of a hand, honoring a group of heroes she selected: Anne Frank, Cochise, Annie Oakley, Joseph Cornell (2), Sgt. Pepper, Marie Curie, Marco Polo (3), and so on. Each badge measures about 3" x 2 1/2" x 1/2" and are reproduced same size in the book. It is a very well done, and includes some shots of Slemmons' studio, work bench, etc., which students should find most interesting. Illustrated end papers, bound in lovely dark gray cloth. Title embossed in white ink on the cover and spine, a hand shape blind stamped on the rear cover. Very nice book.
Just send me your name and address, and I'll arrange to have one sent to you.
And, a bonus, there is WorldCat copy available!
Send me those emails.
Cheers,
Peter
