Dear colleagues,

On behalf of York University Libraries, I am pleased to invite you to join me
for 'interPLAY: between creativity and information,' a one-day symposium on
March 26, 2012 in Toronto, Canada. 'interPLAY' will explore and challenge
shifting definitions of “information” from a diversity of disciplinary
perspectives. On behalf of YUL, I invite you to join us for this groundbreaking
event.

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Cavell (UBC), author of "McLuhan in
Space: A Cultural Geography."  Other speakers include Dr. Janine Marchessault
(York), Dr. Christopher M. Drohan (Sheridan), Dr. Gary Genosko (Lakehead), Dr.
Joseph Nechvatal (School of Visual Arts), Vincent Bonin, and Vanessa Kam (UBC
Libraries) in addition to Canadian Conceptual artist IAIN BAXTER&, whose
45-year exploration of "information" serves as the inspiration for this event.

The ongoing publication of the IB&raisonnE—an experimental online catalogue
raisonné being developed at York University Libraries, that seeks to expand and
transform traditional reference formats through exploratory methods of social
production <http://archives.library.yorku.ca/iain_baxterand_raisonne/>—provides
the ideal occasion for responding to the visionary information art of IAIN
BAXTER& with fresh approaches to information, information technology, and
library and information science.
