The Reanimation Library is very excited to announce a temporary
relocation to the Museum of Modern Art as part of Print Studio
Monday, January 23rd - Friday, March 9th
Opening Reception Thursday, February 2, 2012, 6:00-9:00p.m.
From January 23rd until March 9th, the Reanimation Library will be
located in the mezzanine of the Museum of Modern Art's Lewis B. and
Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building as part of Print
Studio (http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1227).
Organized in conjunction with the exhibition Print/Out, Print Studio
is an interactive space that explores the evolution of artistic
practices relating to the medium of print. The studio offers a series
of drop-in workshops, lectures, and events that emphasize accessible
and sustainable models for the production and dissemination of ideas.
Participants are invited to use the resources available to experiment
with and manipulate images and text. Artist- and educator-led
activities highlight the ways in which new digital technologies
incorporate traditional printing practices, reimagining the role of
print in contemporary visual culture.
The library will be available for free public use from
Wednesday-Monday, 12:00-4:00p.m. during Print Studio's run. Please
feel free to come by and make use of the library and Print Studio
facilities.
Print Studio Inauguration & NSK State Citizens Rendezvous
Thursday, February 2, 2012, 6:00-9:00p.m.
Print Studio’s opening program begins with an NSK State Citizens
Rendezvous, featuring presentations by Miran Mohar, founding member of
Slovenian art collective IRWIN; and NSKNY Organizing Committee members
Gediminas Gasparavicius, Charles Lewis, and Conor McGrady. After the
presentations, Ana Janevski, Associate Curator of Performance, MoMA,
moderates a discussion and Q&A. A reception follows, and participants
are invited to engage in Print Studio’s activities: apply for
citizenship at IRWIN’s NSK Passport Office, New York; make a print
using visual resources found in the Reanimation Library: Mid-Manhattan
Branch; or respond to a re-imagined task from the ongoing Collective
Task project adapted for Print Studio.
TICKETS ARE FREE, BUT REQUIRED FOR THE OPENING RECEPTION
Tickets can be reserved at
http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/tickets/events/14499.
We hope to see you there.
Best regards,
Andrew Beccone

The Reanimation Library is a small, independent Presence Library open
to the public. It is a collection of books that have fallen out of
routine circulation and been acquired for their visual content.
Outdated and discarded, they have been culled from thrift stores,
stoop sales, and throw-away piles, and given new life as a resource
for artists, writers, cultural archeologists, and other interested
parties.
The library continues to seek out collaborative situations with
likeminded individuals and organizations. If you are interested in
working with the library on a project, please contact library founder
