All.
I have responsibilities for Art, music, theater and dance.
I think there is a trend towards centralization of branch libraries and alternatively, to interdisciplinary appointments. The Music Library Association has formed a task force to examine the branch libraries issue in particular. The charge of the task force is:
" To investigate the issues and strategies of centralizing versus decentralizing
academic music collections, from small liberal arts colleges through large
research institutions, including an exhaustive literature search, collecting
anecdotal evidence of MLA members who have faced this issue, and
collecting information and data on music collections that have been
centralized or decentralized. The task force will issue a report by February
2012 consisting of:
A list of resources for staff seeking to promote the continued
survival of a branch music library.
A list of resources for staff making the transition from a
decentralized to a centralized music collection.
The work of the task force may result in an article for publication."
Margaret Ericson, Art and Music Librarian, Colby College and member MLA Branch Libraries Task Force.

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Art, design, and architecture librarians with additional disciplinary responsibilities
Colleagues-
I am curious how many of us have disciplinary responsibilities that
are outside of the arts/architecture and related areas, and whether
there have ever been even informal discussions through ARLIS on this
issue, whether it is a trend, how we cope (or not), prepare the next
generation for possibilities, etc., etc., etc.
