Addendum: we have Project Muse Book Collection on trial. Here is the
relevant FAQ.
Q. Will the paper and digital books be the same?
Initially, all of the books in the MUSE/UPCC collections are also
expected to be published in print. All content from the print edition
is included in the online edition. Occasionally, an image may be
redacted due to issues with permission to use the image in electronic
form.

To determine if a print book has illustrations in color, I went to WorldCat:
ex: 190 p. illus. (part col., part fold.), ports. (part col.) 31 cm.
What I think I am discovering is that the description field sometimes
just documents "ills" but does not indicate that some are in color (I
did a test!) Of course, my sample is not large.
