I am a bit late to this discussion but I want to "register" my
two-cents worth!
Registering is becoming endemic for many databases. I find it a pain
in the neck as it always takes me seemingly innumerable attempts before
I come up with an acceptable password and then there is the matter of
storing all the passwords. Along with all the others required if you
do your business, Verizon, Apple, etc., online.
I regret ARTstor has made this decision. You are right--it is a hassle
for everyone and a motivator to go to Google Images instead of an
expensive library subscription students perceive as unfathomable.
