Highlights from the permanent collection of The Center for the Book Arts (New York City) will be on display at SCAD Atlanta October 6-December 6th, 2011 in the ACA Library. There will be an opening reception October 6th at 7pm in the library with special guest, Alexander Campos, Executive Director of The Center for Book Arts.
The exhibition Multiple, Limited, Unique will offer an overview of the history and development of book arts over the past 40 years. Since 2008, the Center for Book Arts has been involved in a Collections Initiative, which includes the in-depth cataloguing and preservation of their extensive collection of artist books, prints, catalogues, and ephemera. Multiple, Limited, Unique, the culmination of the three-year effort of the Collections Initiative, offers an overview of the history and development of book arts, and examines the role of the Center in both nurturing and promoting innovative artists and preserving traditional artistic practices.
The ACA Library has an extensive Artist’s Book Collection that if frequently used by students for research and inspiration. SCAD Atlanta has an active community of book artists and offers a book arts minor. Multiple, Limited, Unique is an opportunity for students, faculty, and the public to gain awareness of this incredibly diverse genre.
