Dear colleagues,
I have posted my notes from the recent ALA Midwinter (early January in San Diego) on my ALA reports page at http://artcataloging.net/alagen.html There are also some links to other information on the conference.
The Genre/Form Subcommittee of the Subject Analysis Committee is working with the Library of Congress on various subject or content areas. Many terms have been created or clarified for law, cartographic materials, motion pictures, and sound recordings. The work continues in music and religion (including liturgical objects). They recognize that there are several terms that are art-related and an art project is probably in the offing.
The agenda of the MARC Advisory Committee was heavily devoted to changes related to RDA and FRBR. For more on RDA, you can read Dan Lipcan's report on CC:DA or look at the link for the PCC Participants' Meeting (or probably just google RDA).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I am looking forward to the lively mix of the joint conference in Minneapolis.
