Dear ARLIS Members,
I am writing this on behalf of The Eames Office, at their request.
The Eames Office would like to donate (free of charge) a copy of Eames Demetrios's "An Eames Primer" (London: Thames and Hudson, 2001) to any ARLIS-affiliated research library that would like a copy or have an additional one.
Written by Charles and Ray Eames's grandson, Eames Demetrios, this is the only book on the work of the Eameses currently available by an author who accessed the Eames Office Documents Collection at the Library of Congress. The book is enriched by the many in-depth, oral interviews conducted by Eames Demetrios with Charles and Ray's friends and collaborators, such as Julius Shulman and Billy Wilder. It provides a unique perspective on their work and is bolstered by archival research done at the Cranbrook Institute, Museum of Modern Art, NY, Herman Miller Corporate Archives and Vitra Corporate Archves.
This authoritative book did not receive the attention that it deserved, as it was released simultaneously with the World Trade center Attacks of 9/11/2001.
If your library would like a free copy of "An Eames Primer," please direct your requests to: [log in to unmask]
Thank you very much!
