Annual Meeting 2010 | November 12-14 | Houston

The rate for those staying at the conference hotel, Hotel ZaZa, is $129 per room per night (plus tax). Reservations must be made at ZaZa no later than October 12 to guarantee this rate and room availability. Friday, Nov. 12
Hotel ZaZa check-in time is 4:00 PM. Stay tuned to the listserv for parking options, MFAH visitor passes, and other options for early arrivals Friday and late departures Sunday.
5:00 to 6:00 PM Tours of Menil Collection art storage (“The Treasure House”). Eric Wolf and Clare Elliott will lead simultaneous tours limited to ten people per tour.
6:00 to 7:00 PM Visit the Menil on your own. Kurt Schwitters: Color and Collage is the featured show. Eric Wolf will have the library open and be available to show you around.
7:00 to 7:30 PM James Harithas speaks at Barnett Newman’s “Broken Obelisk” in front of The Rothko Chapel.
7:30 to 9:30 PM Dinner at Margaret Culbertson’s home.
Saturday, Nov. 13
Breakfast on your own at home, at ZaZa, or at the MFAH’s Café Express (the last opens at 9:00 AM).
9:45 to 10:15 AM Tour of Hirsch Library at MFAH.
10:15 to 10:35 AM Tour of Drawing from Nature (led by MFAH curator Dena Woodall).
10:35 to 11:15 AM Tour of German Impressionist Landscape Painting (led by MFAH curator Helga Aurisch).
11:15 to Noon MFAH on your own.
12:15 to 1:15 PM Presentation by Dario Robleto at Inman Gallery.
1:30 to 4:15 PM Lunch at and tour of the new Kilroy Visitor and Education Center, including its library, and Ima Hogg’s home and gardens at Bayou Bend (courtesy of Margaret Culbertson).
4:30 to 5:00 PM James Drake show at The Station Museum of Contemporary Art.
5:10 to 6:05 PM Rothko Chapel/Byzantine Fresco Chapel/Cy Twombly Gallery.
6:15 to 7:30 PM Dinner at restaurant to be announced.
7:30 to 10:00 PM Tour of Houston highlights including early stop at University of Houston’s William R. Jenkins Architecture and Art Library (the latter a short tour by Catherine Essinger). A rented van should minimize the number of cars needed for this and other venues.
Sunday, Nov. 14
8:30 to 11:30 AM Catered Breakfast/Business Meeting in an MFAH conference room. Hotel ZaZa checkout time is Noon.
