Hi Lucie and all --
Classics researchers are amazing, aren't they? We are also fond of Gnomon,
another free online resource for this area from Germany:
http://www.gnomon.ku-eichstaett.de/Gnomon/en/Gnomon.html
There is a bibliography and thesaurus (and a wonderful owl logo for those
who appreciate such things!)

Subject: Re: [ARLIS-L] An archaeology/ancient art online resource
Dear ARLIS,
Well said Eileen, and we can add the web site ZENON-DAI (
http://opac.dainst.org/) as a sister site for those who are unable to
subscribe to DYABOLA.
Also the Beazley Archive web portal has upgraded to the Classic Art Research
Centre (http://www.beazley.ox.ac.uk/index.htm) and is most helpful in all
aspects of the Classical World, including hosting the CVA portal. Finally,
there is a new web portal called CLAROS (http://www.clarosnet.org/index.htm)
that aims to bring together the Classical Art Research Centre, LIMC (Lexicon
Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae), and CVA all together in one great
portal. Along with Perseus Digital Library (
http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/), all of these are free and open to
all. Stay tuned for more as this is a very open online discipline lately.
I am working on a book chapter about researching Greek art and archaeology
soon to go to press, so I certainly welcome Eileen’s comment and those of
anyone else who has a suggestion for this area.
Thanks,
-- Lucie

Given the sad demise of BHA, let's keep in mind another invaluable online
resource for scholars and students working in the fields of Classical and
Near Eastern art and archaeology, Project Dyabola: Archaeologische
Bibliographie, sponsored by the German Archaeological Institute. It is
kept up to date (the most recent posting is February 2010) and covers both
monographs and periodicals. The URL is:
http://www.dyabola.de/en/indexfrm.htm?page=http://www.dyabola.de/

of you may already subscribe, but for those who do not, you might want to
consider this resource.
