I found some possibilities via Google, but they are likely skimpy. The
next to last item includes a Ripley newspaper obituary, but says it has
no date! Perhaps something in the clipping will have a clue. Another
obit possibility is the New York Times Obituaries Index. (two vols.); it
covers 1858-1978. Does RISD have an archves? Best wishes, Ellen Chapman,

She was based in Boston and also taught apparel design at RISD from 1931 - 1945. She may have died while on the faculty but I can't confirm this. She had a place of business called Ripley Studios in Boston that was active between 1919 - 1923 if not longer. She created costumes for Ted Shawn and Ruth St. Denis. In 1921, the Harvard Crimson mentions her as the designer of costumes for a Hasty Pudding club production called "Wetward Ho!. " I have also seen her name associated with an organization called Boylston Studio of Costume Design in Boston.
