Hi Roger:
I am so glad to have the new Directory before the conference. Of course I
have printed it out. But it is great to have it online too! Thanks to all
who made this happen.
Joan

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Handbook and List of Members 2009 now available
Dear Colleagues,
The Handbook and List of Members for 2009 is now available in the members'
area of the ARLIS/NA Web site. Members may login using the MemberClicks
username and password; click on the link "Download the 2009 Handbook."
For the first time, the handbook is being made available exclusively in
portable document format (PDF). Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view,
search, and print the document. The latest version can be downloaded for
free at http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
The content and appearance follows the precedent set by earlier editions,
and contains administrative information, leadership and group rosters,
sponsorship and awards information, as well as alphabetical lists of
individual, institutional, and business affiliate members of record as of
March 16, 2009 (hence the new single-year designation). Member indexes by
institution and by geographic location conclude the document.
By offering the publication in this format, we are pleased to introduce
several useful viewing, navigating, and printing features. Using Acrobat
Reader, the viewer can save the entire document to an individual computer or
portable storage device, enlarge the text size for easier viewing, and
search in the "Find" window on the toolbar. Icons on the left allow the
viewer to see thumbnail images of individual pages (enlargeable under
"options") and go directly to a desired page; one may also use the table of
contents bookmarked for quick consultation of a particular section. Each
listing in the table of contents is also linked to the corresponding
section; just click on the line to jump to the first page of the section
chosen. Links to external Web sites are provided in the "Affiliated
Organizations" list on p. xi.
For those who may wish to do so, the entire document (or any portion of it)
may be printed for consultation offline.
Please note that the online membership directory and the society's Web site
will be the best sources for regularly updated information.
We hope you find the ARLIS/NA Handbook and List of Members for 2009 both
informative and easy to use, and we welcome your comments and suggestions
for future editions.
Roger Lawson
