Greetings, All!
There are about 3 weeks left during which to submit a proposal for a
program at next year's MLA meeting in San Diego. Program proposals and
requests for meeting space for committees/sub-committees/round
tables/etc. need to be made *by Friday, May 8, 2009!*

You may also request a Business or other non-program meeting. Please
use the *Business Meeting Request Form *for that purpose at:

Please keep in mind what our esteemed Prez Ruthann said in her message
on March 9:
"As you prepare your requests for this meeting, please keep in mind the
distinction between a programmatic event and a business meeting. This
is an extremely important distinction because it guides meeting space
assignments and thus plays into the budget for the convention (and your
registration fees). Please keep in mind that a business meeting is just
that - time to do the "business" of the group."
Also, if you are willing to consider having your committee,
subcommittee, or roundtable meet in an informal space (i.e. not a
scheduled meeting room), there is room to indicate this on the Business
Meeting form. This will help keep costs down and, given the location of
next year's meeting, should open up some sun-drenched options! Details
of communicating the location of your meeting will be worked out closer
to the date of the conference. We understand that this isn't feasible
for some groups, but please consider it.
