I've long been an admirer of BHA for the
depth of scholarship to be found there.
And I've excused a 3- or even 6-month
time lag in exchange for their thoroughness.
But an entire year lag puts one in an
awkward position for instruction sessions.
I have a very short BI session on medieval art
this week. The foregone conclusion would
be that I'd demo BHA and IMB. Now
I'm having reservations about making BHA
the primary art lit source if students will
miss such a long span of recent research.
[I really was hoping for an easily
fixable tech glitch when I asked you all to
help me check!] I would still recommend
BHA, certainly. And I'd be very sorry if we
lost it to budget cuts. But that doesn't
change the uncomfortable teaching
dilemma I'm in at the moment.
