Hi everybody,
This year's RLG Programs Round Table will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 9:30am - 11:00am in the Mt. Princeton Room at the conference hotel (Grand Hyatt Denver, 3rd floor) - that's right after the first plenary kicking of the conference proper. Please mark your calendars - you won't find this meeting in the official ARLIS conference materials!
The Round Table provides a forum of discussion for recent RLG Program activities for partners and the art library community at large. All ARLIS attendees are most welcome!
Agenda
1. SPOTLIGHT
You'll note with relief that we'll do a minimum amount of exposition, and a maximum amount of discussion. If you haven't done so already, please read some of the materials referenced above so we can jump right into the deep end!
*Bringing special collections into the large-scale digitization milieu and "Shifting Gears"*
We'll talk about how special collections and archives can "shift gears" to get more materials online and into spaces where people are likely to discover them.
Read the paper at http://www.oclc.org/programs/publications/reports/2007-02.pdf
Watch the webinar at http://www.oclc.org/programsandresearch/parcasts/erway.htm
*Museum data exchange project*
Hear about the Mellon-funded effort to create a tool for exporting data out of collections management systems, test sharing of museum data through OAI harvesting, and assess the utility of an aggregate research collection of museum records.
Read the press release at http://www.oclc.org/news/releases/200695.htm
*Last copies project*
Find out more about the effort to identify unique holdings in WorldCat.

.
2. Discussion: So much digitization, so little access?
We'll spend another good chunk of time discussing the impact of mass digitization on the art library community, where (so far) few reap the direct benefit of public/private partnerships, but we know many are carefully monitoring developments. Recent RLG Programs projects will form the backdrop for that discussion.
Background:
*Best practices for public/private digitization agreements*
Read the paper at http://www.dlib.org/dlib/november07/kaufman/11kaufman.html
*Impact of digitization and copyright on shared print holdings* / *Copyright evidence findings*
Read the report at http://www.oclc.org/programs/publications/2008-01.pdf
3. Briefings
As the title says, these will be brief. Extremely brief. And they'll be a surprise, too!
4. Round Robin Round-up
Amy Lucker (Institute of Fine Arts, NYU) will reprise her breezy round robin round-up.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at ARLIS, where our motto for this year's Round Table will be "less Power Point, more discussion"!
Cheers,
Günter
