Hello,
I have a reference question that has proven to be a stumper, and I'm hoping
someone might be able to point my in the right direction. A patron is in
possession of a 12X16 oil reproduction of a painting originally painted in
watercolor by Irving Couse. The painting has a small insignia in the left
hand corner of either a CC, GG, or GC within a triangle. The patron
believes that the artwork was used in a calendar. He would like to know
more of the history, and ideally who painted the reproduction.
I've looked in Art Full Text, Groves, and some books I have on calendar
art, but I'm not finding any indication of that insignia. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help,
Mardi
