The Committee on Cataloging: Description and Access (CC:DA) met three times during the ALA midwinter conference. The majority of the discussion concerned the latest draft of Resource Description and Access (RDA). The drafts are available at the JSC site:

At the same site, there are links to the RDA Update Forum presentations:

These presentations give a summary of the recent changes to RDA's structure.
Following the JSC meeting in October, RDA was restructured to more closely follow the FRBR and FRAD models. RDA is due to be published in 2009. It is not yet certain when implementation will be, or which institutions will be the first adopters of the new cataloging code.

FRAD: http://www.ifla.org/VII/d4/FRANAR-ConceptualModel-2ndReview.pdf
Also during both CC:DA and MARBI, there was some discussion on whether MARC will be sufficient to fully implement RDA. In the meantime, there were several discussion papers that are likely to come back to MARBI as proposals at the next ALA annual meeting in June.
Specialized rules for art, such as AACR2 21.16, have been eliminated from RDA. RDA is intended to provide general instructions that are applicable to all resources. There are a few art-related examples in RDA in the following rules:
5.10.0.3.2 General guidelines on cataloguer’s annotations
6.1.1.1 Works created by one person, family, or corporate body
6.1.1.4 Adaptations and revisions
6.1.1.7.1 Additions to access points representing works
6.1.2.2.1 Preferred access point representing a part or parts of a work
6.4.0.3.1 Form of work
I’d appreciate any comments on these examples or other matters. Also, if there is any place in the rules that you think an art example would be appropriate, please supply an example.
The comment period ends on February 7th.
