ARLIS members are invited to the Second Exhibition of American
Decorated Publishers' Bindings, 1872-1929, now on view. You can see
some of the installation at
http://bookarts.net/gallery.htm
A fully illustrated catalog, a companion in format to the one issued
last year, is now in preparation. Information on pre-publication
discount subscriptions can be accessed via the above link. All the
Deluxe Edition subscribers to the first catalog have subscribed to
the new one, as have most of the Limited Edition subscribers. If you
have not subscribed, please be aware that the current rates are in
effect through October 31, and a price increase will take place on November 1.
If you would like to read the first catalog, there is probably one at
an institution near you. The list of public collections that have copies is at
http://bookarts.net/orderform-subscription1.htm#collections
One peculiarity of the library world is that I do not know who
actually placed the order for several copies of the first catalog, so
I could not notify those curators directly about the existence of the
new one. Some orders come from the Acquisitions Dept., and an
announcement sent there does not always get to the originator of the
request. Additionally, several librarians have changed jobs.
Best regards,
Richard
