Please join us at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for a weekend bookbinding workshop with noted book artist and photographer Bea Nettles (www.beanettles.com). The East Meets West workshop will provide instruction on eastern and western traditions of bookbinding, and students will produce three books to take home.
Workshop details
Day One: Eastern Traditions: A discussion of various styles including scrolls, Venetian blinds, and Japanese binding. Hands on production of: Punch Binding and Hardbound Accordion
Day Two: Western Traditions: Samples and discussion of western style codex binding. Hands on production of: Hardbound exposed spine binding on tapes

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14, 2007
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day
Location: Facilities & Services Printing Department, 54A East Gregory Street, Champaign
Cost: $199 - includes $20 materials fee ($180 for GSLIS students, staff, alumni, and previous Book Arts workshop attendees)
Class size is limited to 15.
