George,
Terrie Wilson (Michigan State U.) and I organized and moderated a panel
on artists' files back in 2002:
"Buried Treasure: Artists' Files in the Digital Age", Art Libraries
Society of North America/Visual Resources Association First Joint
Conference, St. Louis, Missouri, March 25, 2002.
Later we co-authored an article on the topic: Terrie L. Wilson and Erika
Dowell. "Today's ephemera, tomorrow's historical documentation: access
options for artists files." Journal of Library Administration 39, no.
2/3 (2003): 43-60.
On a related note, the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of ACRL
(http://rbms.info) just had a really great preconference on the topic of
Ephemera. I know some of the papers will appear in a future issue of
RBM: A Journal of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Cultural Heritage.
Best regards. -- Erika.
