I am working with the Terra Foundation for American Art to set up a small
library in their Paris office. They currently own approximately 3,000
titles, all books or exhibition catalogs, and expect to cap their collection
at 15,000 volumes. They would like a reasonably-priced system for an online
catalog that has proven itself in other art libraries. I realize that many
U.S. art libraries are affiliated with larger institutions, either
universities or museums or consortia, so that they are able to utilize a
sophisticated system for a reasonable cost, but this is not our situation.
Are there any small libraries who could recommend a system? An open source
system would be great, but we are certainly willing to invest in a packaged
system from a U.S. vendor. We are familiar with several of the larger
vendors--Innovative, Sirsi, Voyageur. Are there systems more appropriate for
a special library that you can recommend?
Many thanks.
