Dear ARLIS/NA members,
The time for discussion about the Assessment Task Force recommendations
is passing us by quickly. The Board and the Assessment Task Force have
decided to to do two things to generate more feedback from you, our
members. One is that the discussion will be moved to ARLIS-L. The second
is that an abridged compilation of all the recommendations has been put
together in one document for your review. This document will be placed
on the member's only portion of the website with the rest of the
Assessment documents. And the list of recommendations will be sent to
ARLIS-L in a message from Lynda White, chair of the Task Force. We hope
that the list of recommendations and using the listserv will generate
more feedback from all of you.
The Board too has been discussing all the recommendations in its weekly
meetings, in order to gain a sense of what the recommendations mean for
ARLIS/NA, and to gain a sense of understanding amongst ourselves. But
the Board alone cannot digest the recommendations and move forward to
implementation without your input into the process.
The Board liaisons have been in contact with their groups and chapters
to generate discussion. Those discussions in your groups and chapters
will be very beneficial, as well as your individual feedback to ARLIS-L.
The Task Force members and Board members are more than happy to come to
your group meetings in Atlanta to hear your thoughts, and to answer
questions. If you are interested in this, please let Lynda White or
another Task Force member know so that they can plan to attend your meeting.
The Task Force members will also be available in the Registration area
for one-on-one discussion through most of the conference.
And don't forget that there will be an open forum time in the Annual
Membership Meeting on Monday, April 30th to share your thoughts. We look
forward to your presence at the Membership Meeting.
Please take advantage of these various methods of communicating with
each other regarding the future of ARLIS/NA.
Thank you all,
Ann
