Colleagues,
Many of you will be aware that two recent studies of art history
publishing, commissioned by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, are
available for free download from the Rice University Press
e-publishing web site at: http://ricepress.rice.edu/publications.html.
They are
Hilary Ballon and Mariet Westermann's "Art History and Its
Publications in the Electronic Age"
(2006), and Lawrence McGill, "The State of Scholarly Publishing in the
History of Art and Architecture" (2006).
I thought some individuals and libraries might be pleased to know that
the Ballon-Westermann study can now be ordered as a printed volume
from the same web site (cost $10 per copy). I have just recently
stumbled on this information and thought it worth sharing it with you.
