Hi Sigrid,
The Projekt Dyabola database is the best database for Greco/Roman Art
and Archaeology. It may include citations not found in any other
database. At UVA, we teach DYABOLA even to undergraduates in our
Architectural History 101 class since they have to write research
papers on Ancient Art. Since BHA does not start until Constantine
and Art Index is selected periodicals, we rely on DYABOLA to verify
conference proceedings and to get obscure citations from
archaeological reports. I would think DYABOLA serves also History,
Archaeology, and perhaps even Religious Studies, as well as Art
History and Classics. I also use DYABOLA to verify citations for our
Interlibrary Loan office. It is indispensable for Greek and Roman Art.
This summer in Greece, I heard a rumour that DYABOLA might become a
open web site and not subscription. Has any else heard anything like
that?
thanks,
lucie
