Hello all,
I'd like to tap the collective knowledge for some references
relevant to a patron's question:
I am looking for books written about particular artists
or fine arts in general by well-known writers of fiction, poetry or
creative nonfiction - that is, books not written by art historian or
artists. For example, I've found the Rilke book on Rodin, the Ann
Beattie book on Alex Katz, the John Berger book of essays on looking and
the Siri Hustvedt book, Yonder. Are there other books that you know of
like this...?
I've suggested Tom Wolfe's book "The Painted Word", and George Orwell's
essay on Dali, and have rummaged Penn's OPAC to come up with a few
additional authors (Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, Goethe).
I'd appreciate hearing offlist from anyone who can suggest additional books,
essays, or authors.
Thanks in advance!
