June 8 - August 20, 2006
Reception: Thursday, June 8, 2006, 6:00-8:30pm
Second Floor Exhibition Space, Main Library, 101 West Flagler Street, Miami, Fl. - 305-375-2665
This exhibition joins three bodies of work spanning different generations and geography, but sharing in common the medium of the artists' book. The show includes twenty-two artists' books from the CalArts Artists' Book Library Collection, including seminal works by Adrian Piper, John Cage, and Lorna Simpson; handmade artists' books created by high school students from the CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) Digital Media Program; and books by students from Miami's own New World School of the Arts Printmaking Program.
This exhibition was organized by Evelyn Serrano, Public Programs Coordinator at the Community Arts Partnership (CAP) program at CalArts with the support of CAP Director Glenna Avila, CAP Associate Director Patricia Gonzalez; and the curatorial staff of the Miami-Dade Public Library System. This project was supported by the City of Santa Clarita, the U.S. Department of Education, the Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation, the Good Works Foundation and the James Irvine Foundation.
