Dear Jill,
On Monday April 3rd, the Art Collection will host the first program in Artists Career Development Lectures. The talk, "Freelancing Goes Mainstream," will be given by Sara Horowitz the well-known attorney and founder of Working Today. She is the recepient of a MacArthur Foundation "Genius Award" Fellowship and was selected as one of Esquire magazine's Fifty Best & Brightest.
John Zinsser, a popular New School Lecturer and co-founder of the Journal of Contemporary Art, will give the second talk titled "Writing an Artist's Statement: Identity and Form" on June 5th.
I initiated this lecture series to address the needs of the creative working people facing mounting obstacles in New York City. I also present "Artist Dialogues" in conjunction with the two exhibition series "Art in the windows" and "Art Wall on Third." A critic, curator or writer is invited to discuss the exhibiting artist's work during the dialouge. On Monday May 22nd, Joshua Levine will discuss his work with the writer Joyce Korotkin.
In addition, the Art Collection also hosts talks given by the staff of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art highlighting either their current exhibitions or their permanent collections.
All the programs are held on the 6th floor, begin at 6:30 pm and are free to public.
Hope this helps,
Arezoo
