CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - 2005-2006 ARLIS/NA Internship Award
DEADLINE OCTOBER 5, 2005
The Art Libraries Society of North America is now accepting applications for
its annual Internship Award. The ARLIS/NA Internship Program provides
financial support for students preparing for a career in art librarianship
or visual resources curatorship. This award will grant $2,500.00 to support
a period of internship in an art library or visual resources collection.
Who May Apply
Students currently enrolled in, or having completed within the last 12
months, a graduate program in library science, art history, studio art or
museum studies may apply for the award.
Internship Description
Once an award recipient has been selected, he or she will select an
institution to act as host for the internship. This institution must be
approved by the ARLIS/NA Internship Award Sub-Committee. ARLIS/NA is not
responsible for matching candidates with a host institution, but will gladly
assist with the process. This Internship Award will be granted for the
2005-2006 academic year. The intern will work on-site a minimum of 10 hours
per week to complete a total of at least 150 hours.
How to Apply
To apply for the award, please submit: 1) a resume; 2) a scan, photocopy or
fax of a current transcript [does not have to be official, but should be
non-editable]; 3) an essay of up to 250 words addressing the applicant's
professional goals, expectations of the internship experience, and any
skills or experience that might benefit art libraries or visual resources
collections; and 4) the names of two professional or scholastic references
with addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. Application
materials in electronic form are preferred and should be submitted to all of
the members of the Internship Award Sub-Committee listed at the end of this
notice.
