As you already know, CAA filed Comments on the Orphan Works Notice of
Inquiry with the U.S. Copyright Office on Friday, March 25, 2005. You
can find an update on the project and the full text of our statement
at http://www.collegeart.org/orphan-works/, together with links to the
proposal that we endorsed and to the Copyright Office's website, where
some 600 such documents will be posted (we are told) this week.
CAA will be tracking this matter closely, and will post updates on our
website as occasion warrants. The rest of the process is likely to be
slow, but we believe that our document and others like it will have a
significant influence.
Our special thanks to all who contributed comments, anecdotes, and
suggestions during the development of our position statement.
