Available for sale:
Artists' Book, Book Art, Fine Press, and Reference Book Collection of
writer, printer, teacher, and publisher Susan King.
The library was created over the last 30 years and comprises about 750
items and includes handmade books, pamphlets, trade books, journals,
broadsides, posters, and cards. Many items are inscribed and signed to
Susan King. This is an excellent teaching collection. It is quite
eclectic and includes examples of artists' books in a broad range of
formats and styles of production from letterpress to Xerox. There are
large groups of books from Visual Studies Workshop, Nexus Press,
Poltroon Press, Matrix Press, Women's Studio Workshop, Ian Hamilton
Finlay and Wild Hawthorn Press, Wesley B. Tanner and Arif Press,
Purgatory Pie Press, Rebis Press, Kickshaws Press to name but a few.
Many other presses, artists, writers and printers are well represented
including Ken Campbell, Claire Van Vliet, Walter Hamady, Ed Ruscha,
Ninja Press, Ruth Laxson, Johanna Drucker, and Turkey Press. The
library is in fine condition. For the time being the collection is
being offered as a whole only. However, if we have not located a client
by May 1, 2005 we will break up the collection to accommodate
interested parties who might otherwise anticipate substantial
duplication. This process will be accomplished on a first come first
served basis. Please query for further details and a checklist of the
collection.
Granary Books also represents the Susan King / Paradise Press Archive.
