Hi All:
The first meeting of the Student Affairs discussion
group will take place at the Annual Conference on
Tuesday, April 5, 3:00-4:30 in Room 336 AB , followed
later that evening by a "pub social" to rival our
British colleagues at Houston's Flying Saucer.
Interest in such a group emerged from a talk I gave
last year in New York on student groups in LS/IS
programs and how they as augment curriculum in such
programs. Also, there is a great need for the ARLIS
membership to foster relationships with programs and
the students within them. Where else can students find
more information on careers within the arts for
library/information science professionals?
This email is an open call to anyone interested in
working on this topic with me. Business at the meeting
will include organizing a loose group of folks
(students and professionals) that want to work
directly with academic programs and students, through
talks/lectures, websites, listservs and other
initiatives, and possibly becoming a roundtable. Let's
open some lines of communication, I'm looking forward
to the brainstorming!
Thanks!
