I am trying to identify a slide that is in a set of costume history slides.
The accompanying text says it's one of George Barbier's illustrations from
Le Bonheur du Jour. There have been several slides in that group, but this
one is nothing like the rest. To begin with, it's obviously a painting,
rather impressionistic, but the clothes and hair are 1920's. It is a woman
sitting on the edge of a bed holding a small white dog. She is wearing a
white V neck sweater over a blue dress that is short enough to show most of
her calf. There is blue flowered wall paper behind her and a similar blue
bedspread around her. Also there is a table with figurines on it to the
left of her head.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Perhaps a guess as to the artist?
Thanks,
Marti
