Senior Library Clerk

The Gimbel Art and Design Library at Parsons School of Design, a division of New School University, is seeking an individual for the position of Senior Library Clerk. This position reports to the Library Director and will manage the organization, maintenance, and appearance of the Library stacks. The Senior Library Clerk will also perform in a supervisory capacity on weekends as well as assist the Circulation Manager in the hiring, training, and supervising of student shelving staff.

Responsibilities:
* Perform in a supervisory capacity on weekends
* One to two weekday evenings required as well as weekends
* Assist in the hiring, training, & supervising of student shelving staff with the Circ. Manager
* Organize and oversee shifting projects in the stacks
* Propose and coordinate weeding projects under the direction of the Librarians
* Propose and coordinate inventory projects under the direction of the Librarians
* Coordinate and oversee shelf-reading projects with student staff
* Ensure bookshelves and their contents are easily accessible and presentable
* Manage sorting shelves area
* Coordinate monograph bindery processing, including review of the quality of binding 
* Other duties to be assigned

Requirements: 
* BA or BFA
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills
* Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications:
* BFA or BA in art or design related field
* Library experience
