Orange County has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Director of
Library Services. This position works directly with the Chief Academic
Officer of both schools and will be responsible for the planning,
implementation and supervision of library operations for both campuses at
one combined library location. This combined location will serve the
academic needs of the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students and
faculty in both on-ground and on-line learning environments.
We are seeking candidates for the full-time position of Director of Library
Services. This position will work a flexible schedule with occasional
evening and weekend hours which are negotiable.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the overall supervision of two MLIS credentialed
librarians and
part-time student workers.
2. Responsible for managing and eventually migrating the database system
for both schools to one system.
3. Provide reference services to both school communities.
4. Supervise the functions of cataloging and processing of Library
materials.
5. Supervise the maintenance and development of the Library circulation
system,
including the tracking of overdue materials and the levy of fines.
6. Collaborate with faculty to acquire materials in areas of Psychology,
Business,
Education, Art & Design and Culinary Arts
7. Manage electronic resources to collaborate and develop information
sharing and
faculty development
8. Participate in student retention activities and engage in professional
development
9. Develop and track Library annual budgets, maintaining financial
records of all
orders and expenditures.
10. Perform other duties as needed for the maintenance of the Library
operations.
Position Requirements:
1. Master's Degree in Library Science from ALA-accredited school.
2. 3-5 years' supervisory experience of MLIS credentialed Librarians
preferred.
3. Previous experience working in a library of an academic
institution or 2-year
college.
4. 5-7 years' experience with collection development.
5. Experience with cataloging and processing materials.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
