I have been asked to pass on information about this opportunity to ARLIS/NA
members wishing to learn more about how to get their research published.
It's an all day pre-conference sponsored by the Library Administration and
Management Association at the upcoming ALA annual meeting in Orlando,
Florida.
"From Passion to Print: The Joy of publication" will take place on Friday,
June 25, 2004.
Participants will learn the place of publishing in librarianship, and go on
to gain an understanding of the role of editors in the writing process. In
the session 'Editors - not the dark side of the desk' writers learn to move
work from their 'desktop' to the top of everyone else's desk - published.
Important tips on the details of writing, as well as personal editorial
review of individual pieces by practicing editors will wrap up the
experience. Speakers will be: Ellen Miller, President of Ellen Miller Group;
Kate Carpenter, Library Director and Professor of Library Science Purdue
University Calumet; Bob Moran, Editor of Library Administration &
Management; Don Riggs, Vice President for Information Services and
University Librarian, Nova Southeastern Univ.; Sue Eason, Acquisitions
Editor Scarecrow Press.
