The ARLIS Visual Resources Division (VRD) annual
meeting will be held at the 2005 ARLIS/NA NY
conference on Saturday, April 17, from 3:30-5:00
(location TBA). If you work with an image collection
(film, photographs, slides, digital images, etc.) or
have an interest in the subject matter, please come to
our meeting; new members to ARLIS are especially
encouraged to attend and get involved in the division.
WHAT IS THE VRD?
The Visual Resources Division
(http://www.chatham.edu/users/staff/dnolting/) of
ARLIS/NA is composed of ARLIS/NA members who are
involved in the documentation of the visual arts. This
includes the acquisition, organization, retrieval and
circulation of visual resources materials, primarily
slides and digital images, but also video, film,
filmstrips, photographs, microforms and other
non-print materials. Special attention is focused,
through subcommittees and with the Visual Resources
Association (VRA, http://www.vraweb.org ), on
standards for images, data, and collection staffing,
as well as guidelines for Visual Resources
Professionals.
