Hi all, I have been a member of this list for several months now but this
is my first submission. I am a graduate student in Information Studies
and am writing a paper and giving a presentation on the phasing out of
slide technology. As many of you are most likely already aware of,
Eastman Kodak made the announcement several months ago that the company
plans to cease production of its slide projectors and accessories.
Digitization has been around for a while now but it seems as though the
option to choose that method will no longer be optional in the future. I
am interested in the impact that this development will have on the role
of slide librarians themselves, as well as how it will alter the way
things have been taught in the art history curriculum for years. I have
created a brief 10 or so question survey at the following url, if you are
a slide librarian in a university context and interested in
participating, please copy and paste the address in your browser:
http://mdcweb.mdcresearch.com/projects/6666/login/login.cfm.
Respondents can be assured of complete confidentiality and anonymity. I
will be happy to share results to anyone interested and can post them to
the list if you'd like. Feel free to contact me off-list with any
questions; I truly appreciate your time and thoughts!
Regards,
Anna Wilcoxon
