Thanks to all colleagues who responded to my question. I got some great
suggestions. I hope this summary will help others.
First, many of you pointed me to the Visual Resources Association
(http://www.vraweb.org). The Resources button leads you to lots of
great stuff. “VRA Core” is under the Cataloging/Data Management
section. There is also a new document coming out called “Cataloguing
Cultural Objects”. The document is still in process, but I’m looking
forward to its completion. It’s already proved useful to me. The
archives of the VRA listserv are archived and can be searched. Take the
Listserv button to get there. Take a look at a recent discussion on
“image professional’s desktop” (which I would never have thought of to
look for, thanks Jacque!).
Many thanks to those who directed me to their own or to other online
slide collections to see how the records were done. ARLIS/NA Visual
Resources Division web page: -
http://www.chatham.edu/users/staff/dnolting/ has a link to members’
online catalogues.
Other direct links given to me: UCSD’s ROGER catalog. Accessible via
http://roger.ucsd.edu/ or you can go right to slide searching at

has a searchable database called SPIRO at

Right in my backyard, of course, are the wonderful resources of the
